Vetus Diesel Engines

Vetus Diesel

Vetus consider requirements such as environmental protection, reliability, durability, fuel efficiency and low-vibration operation absolutely essential.

In all cases, the smallest possible installation sizes, excellent power-to-weight-ratio and a good accessibility of serviceable components are central features. All Vetus Diesel engines are fresh-water cooled and may also be supplied for keel-cooling.

The Vetus Diesel range includes two cylinder engines (12hp, 16hp), a three cylinder engine (27hp) and four cylinder engines (33hp, 42hp, 52hp, 65hp, 80hp). The VF Series engines (140hp, 170hp, 220hp, 250hp) are ultramodern and compact and designed for conventional or sterndrive applications.

The Vetus Deutz range features four cylinder engines (122hp & 140hp) and six cylinder engines (170hp, 210hp), all equipped with a modern CAN bus control system an innovative water-cooled top cover for heat and noise reduction.

For further details about control panels supplied as standard, please check the notes at the bottom of the page, which also include further guidance about the information presented. We are able to offer the full package for fitting out, including exhaust systems, control equipment, water intakes and steering systems - see the Vetus Boat Equipment pages or contact us for further details.

Two Cylinder Engines

Vetus Twin Cylinder

The revised M-Line includes a pair of two-cylinder engines, the Vetus Diesel M2.13 (12hp) and M2.18 (16hp). Both feature a water-cooled aluminium top cover which enables a temperature reduction of up to 20% in the engine room, with the cooler ambient temperature providing a more fuel-efficient air supply to the engine and better combustion.

These engines have indirect cooling for long life and a Mitsubishi base engine for dependability... is it worth scrimping when you can buy Vetus superiority?

Four Cylinder Engines

Vetus Four Cylinder

The Mitsubishi-based Vetus Diesel M4.35 (33hp) and M4.45 (42hp) and turbocharged M4.56 (52hp) are top sellers: their smooth, slow (3,000rpm) and quiet running, compact size and simple design means low fuel consumption and lower running costs. They have been redesigned to give better access to the water pump, as well as adding the new water-cooled top cover which reduced engine room temperature and sound levels.

The VH4-65 (65hp) and the VH4-80 (80hp) are based on a Hyundai-Mitsubishi block and are modern units at a class-leading price.

Sail Drive

Vetus Sail drive

All M-Line (yellow) Vetus marine diesel engines may be supplied with a sail drive. Two transmission rations (2.23:1 and 2.49:1) have been selected to match engine power and speed to propeller size, with identical ratios both ahead and astern. This feature is ideal for twin-engine installations such as a catamaran, with one left-hand and one right-hand propeller.

Options:
- GRP engine bed for M2.13, M2.18, M3.29, M4.35, M4.45 & M4.56
- GRP engine bed for VH4.65 & VH4.80

NEW! Vetus Deutz Engines

Vetus Deutz engine

The new Deutz-based VD4.120 (122hp) and VD4.140 (140hp) utilise a renown vibration-free Deutz base engine, the use of sophisticated marinisation techniques and high quality materials to guarantee reliability, smoothness and longevity. The larger VD6.170 (170hp) and VD6.210 (210hp) are also based on well-proven Deutz engines and have been marinised by Vetus to bring the optimum in reliability and efficiency.

These common-rail engines conform to RCD2 emissions regulations and are highly reliable and durable. They use a CAN bus system which works with SAEJ1929 and NMEA2000 systems. The water-cooled top cover will reduce heat and engine noise. The revised engines also feature more compact air filters, new exhaust manifold insulation and high output alternators.

Dimensions shown for engines are for the maximum in each direction: in most cases the maximum width is defined by the outer limits of the engine mounts and the actual width of the engine itself may be smaller than the dimension shown. Not all gearbox options or ratios are shown and those that are shown may have been rounded to the nearest decimal point; engines are also available without gearbox.

NEW! Diesel Generator Sets

Vetus Generator Set

Vetus generators are available in both 3,000 rpm (GHS / GHX) and 1,500 rpm (GLX) versions. Models are available in single phase (230V) or three phase (230v/400v). All generators are available with or without a soundbox, with the exception of the GHS4, which is only supplied with a soundbox.

The Vetus GX series generator sets produce a very clean sine wave with low signal noise (<3%) and low voltage variance (+/-2%). They feature overload protection and have been designed for easy installation, easy maintenance and high serviceability.

The standard scope of supply includes the remote control panel and 6m extension cable, plus water intake kit and exhaust kit.
