Vetus Electrical Systems


At first glance, you might think that electricity and water don't mix but as long as they don't get together, having power at your fingertips can be very useful!

The conventional approach to boat electrics is either 12v or 24v power and this is well catered for by Vetus with 12v batteries up to 225Ah as well all the accessories you are likely to need, including cables, switches and terminal sets.

In the modern world, there is much more use of household electrical appliances and thus the requirement to use an onboard power supply is greater.

ABC Powermarine also suppply Vetus battery chargers, 24v-12v converters, standard battery chargers, diode splitters and a battery watch for 2 or 3 batteries.

Battery chargers

Vetus battery chargers are suitable for connection to 120 or 230 volts mains supply and are three phase (normal, boost and float). They may be left permanently switched on. The combined battery charger and diode splitter models will also accept the feed from an alternator and have negligible voltage drop.

Sine wave inverters

Vetus inverters produce a pure sine wave output rather than the square wave or modified sine wave output that cheaper competitors do. The have inbuilt protection for high or low battery voltage, overload, short-circuit, overheating and reversed polarity.

Diode Splitters & Battery Watch

Vetus diode splitters may be considered as an automatic battery selector switch, which ensures automatic distrubution of the charging current from the alternator to all banks of batteries while keeping them isolated as supply sources. The Battery Watch controls three battery banks and fulfils the function of a diode splitter plus an alarm for when low voltage occurrs, a switch on/off relay for the lighting battery and a trickle charger for the starting and bow thruster batteries when using a combined charger/inverter.

Batteries

Batteries All Vetus batteries are maintenance free and sufficient electrolyte for their whole life: this means no topping-up and as a result the casing is completely sealed with the exception of a flame-proof vent.

ACCUSCH The famous Vetus battery master switch with rotary series switch. Allows use of either or both of two batteries. The switch enables using and charging of the batteries, both individually and in parallel connection. Also acts as a battery isolator switch for both batteries (battery banks).
