The discharge of marine toilets (black water) and of showers and sinks (grey water) directly overboard in marinas and other sheltered waters is more and more restricted nowadays. In order to overcome this problem and yet fully comply with the rules, Vetus have developed a system for temporary onboard storage of waste water, which can be discharged overboard whilst sailing in open water or alternatively pumped into a holding tank or sewer ashore. These tanks can be installed in existing craft in a relatively simple manner, without the necessity to replace the marine toilet.
In addition to these tanks, a diaphragm type waste water pump can be supplied with a pump capacity of 20 litres/minute with maximim suction height of 3m and maximum discharge height of 5m. This may be used for waste disposal and the same pumping assembly may also be used to discharge bilge water as well.
These tanks are constructed from an odour-impermeable material and are supplied with an inspection hatch, one 38mm angled extraction pipe, one 16mm vent connector and two fastening straps. Angled connectors for various inlets, such as shower, sink, wash basin or boiler are available as options. Also, additional extraction pipes and components for connection to a shoreside holding tank may be supplied.
